OUR HISTORY
Open Door baptist Church began the first Sunday in February 1981. The church was founded by Pastor Ray Haselhuhn and his family. On October 25, 1981 twenty-four people joined together to charter Open Door Baptist Church and it became an official church in the Midland community.
The original church facility was built at its present location in 1983 by church members on 12.5 acres of land donated by a local businessman. In 1991, growth created the need for an addition to allow for Sunday School classrooms, a fellowship hall and expanded nursery facilities.
On October 27, 1996, Pastor Haselhuhn accepted a new position of Senior Pastor downstate. Pastor Jody Ellis was elected on December 15, 1996, to lead the congregation of Open Door Baptist Church.
Pastor Ellis retired in the Fall of 2022 after faithfully serving our church for 26 years. In the Spring of 2023, we called Pastor Joshua Ewing to be the senior pastor; and he accepted on March 15, 2023.
